The great thing about buying an inexpensive t-shirt is the freedom to select just about any colour on the rainbow. Red, yellow, aquamarine — they’re all suitable for that scrap of cloth you’re donning before heading to the beach.

A suit and tie, on the other hand, are generally restricted to a socially acceptable medley of blacks and greys from the dour greyscale. There are exceptions, of course. Your author has a couple of fantastic Elie Balleh blazers up in his closet that he refuses to bring on press trips for fear of evoking jealousy deeper than the Marianas Trench, while a guy called Fresh, who serves as tailor for artist The Weeknd, recently regaled media with the fact he made over 18 red suits for the musician’s “After Hours” tour. So not all suits are cut from the same cloth (pun firmly intended).

This phenomenon extends to the car industry. The most popular colours in Canada for the last several years have been some variant of white, grey, or black — which, as pedants will note, aren’t really colours at all. The reason for this has many prongs: car companies can be less likely to offer vivid shades on some vehicles lest the colour fall out of fashion and some customers fear the novelty of a bright colour will quickly wear off and leave them sadly looking at a lime green vehicle for the next five years.

MoRTH makes 58 RTO services online based on Aadhaar

Consequently, the footfall at the regional transport offices (RTOs) is likely to significantly reduce, which would lead to greater efficiency in their functioning.

New Delhi: As many as 58 citizen-centric services related to driving license, vehicle registration, and transfer of ownership can now be availed online with the help of Aadhaar authentication on voluntary basis. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) on Saturday said that providing such services in a contactless and faceless manner would go a long way in saving critical time of citizens while easing their compliance burden.

Consequently, the footfall at the regional transport offices (RTOs) is likely to significantly reduce, which would lead to greater efficiency in their functioning.

The online services for which a citizen is required to undergo Aadhaar authentication on voluntary basis includes — application for Learner License, issue of duplicate Driving License and renewal of Driving License for which test of competence to drive is not required.

Further, the issue of International Driving Permit, change of address in Conductor License, application for Transfer of ownership of motor vehicle among others are also included among online services for which a citizen is required to undergo Aadhaar authentication on voluntary basis.

According to the notification issued by the ministry on September 16, any person who does not have Aadhaar number may avail such service in physical form by establishing the identity by submitting an alternative document physically with respective Authority as per CMVR 1989.

Toyota Prado take down? Everest V6 SUV can do it says Ford

Ford’s global boss believes the new V6-powered Everest has what it takes to compete with Toyota’s dominant LandCruiser Prado.

Speaking to CarsGuide at the recent seventh-generation Mustang launch in Detroit, Ford CEO Jim Farley was optimistic and excited about the recently launched Everest, and believes this new model will allow the Blue Oval brand to challenge Toyota’s off-roader dominance.

“Everest is a very important thing for us because we’ve never really been able to compete successfully in the market with Toyota, and now we have a chance with the new Everest,” Mr Farley said.

He believes the new 3.0-litre turbo-diesel V6 engine developed for the new Everest (and Ranger) will give Ford the muscle it needs to compete with the Prado and possibly even the LandCruiser 300 Series.

“We got a V6 in the Everest and Toyota got rid of their V6,” Mr Farley said, seemingly referencing Toyota’s decision to drop the petrol V6 engine from the Prado in 2017.


However, even with the extra power and torque from the V6 engine, there’s still a lot of work to do for Ford to overtake either the Prado or LandCruiser 300 Series on the Australian sales charts. 

According to the latest new car sales figures which cover up to the end of August, Ford has sold 6004 Everest in 2022, compared to Toyota’s 15,928 Prados and 8280 LandCruisers. These figures don’t account for the introduction of the new Everest, which only officially launched in early September and already has huge demand for V6-equipped Sport and Platinum variants.

Francesco Policaro was overcome with emotion as he addressed a crowd of more than 300 when he spoke about his auto group’s connection to the SickKids Hospital and Foundation.

He and his wife Natasha tragically lost a baby in 2017 due to a fetal cardiac diagnosis. The couple received care at SickKids during the tragedy and formed a connection with the hospital that has grown into something incredible.

“(As you know), I lost a child to hypoplastic left heart syndrome. We were devastated and didn’t think we had another chance, but we were blessed to have (another) little guy,” the president and CEO of Policaro Auto Group told the crowd.

In 2020, the couple had another child, Noah. However, they never forgot about their first experience and the baby that tragically passed away.
